a) Overview of System & Market Requirements Sometimes there is a requirement to make a call to someone persistently to check whether he is really there doing his work or being told what he’s told to do to stay at a certain location for a particular period of time or just simply to check that he has arrived on time at a particular location. To constantly do such checks manually is a tiring task to do and it is also difficult to know whether the person answering the phone is a genuine voice. b) System SolutionIDLink offers a great solution to the above issue using Voice Biometrics. This solution requires the following components 1) Voice Matching Engine to match the actual voice against the stored voice 2) Interactive Voice Response system to call the person at the particular location or to receive incoming call For this solution, IDLink integrates the IVR with the Voice Matching Engine. A schedule is downloaded to the IVR to ensure that it call a particular location or several locations (scalable to up to about 2000 locations) simultaneously for over a period of 2 or 3 hours. The person picking up the phone will have to say a fixed phrase such as “0-9” or other phrase such as “my voice is my password”. To prevent recording of voice, the person can also be required to say a random phrase such as “the sun rises in the East”. The voice characteristics is then matching against a backend Voice Matching Engine. Once the person is authenticated, a response will be sent through the IVR to say that he is successfully authenticated. The IVR can be loaded with scripts based on user requirements. For example if the user picks up the phone, what is the welcome message he is greeted with and what are the voice prompts to ensure the system users says the right phrases, etc. If the IVR is used to receive an incoming call, the system can be used for various other applications such as bank applications where a user can be allowed to change his password after being authenticated, etc and useful to remove the number of calls at call centres c) Target Applications and MarketThis System Solution is great for the following applications a) Probationers who have curfew hours at home b) Workforce Management where your staffs are mobile and they are expected to be at various locations c) For Bank environment where a users call in to be authenticated for password change, etc for serving a VIP customer better through value added identification services d) Time and Attendance Applications where workers call in to authenticate and Clock IN. d) Case StudyA government institution requires to check whether their probationers stay at home during their curfew hours at about 3000 or more locations. To manually call is a resource intensive process as they have many probationers to do the checks. As such, they used IDLink’s Voice Verification System to schedule the tasks of calling and authenticating the probationers’ voices. The system works well for them as they do not require installing any biometric devices or maintaining any devices at probationer’s homes. They also do not want to maintain such devices over so many locations as it will be a logistical nightmare. The solution from IDLink is a clean one and high availability is ensured.
