a) Overview of System & Market Requirements There is increasing demand for foreign workers in the construction sector and this has created the need for proper housing and shelter through worker dormitories. The facilities that houses them needs to be well managed or it could be a potential haven for illegal squatters and activities. As such, the movement of workers during weekends, the room they stay and when they come back from work needs to be fully monitored by Dormitory managers as well as the Ministry of Manpower. Full and well documented audit reports subjected to guidelines of MOM must be produced for every dormitory manager. b) System SolutionIDLink Systems has been given the task to provide a good system solution for security at dormitories and the biometrics of choice is using facial recognition. The System consist of the following components a) Tripod turnstile with Facial Biometrics as well as RF Proximity Card Reader Integrated b) Backend Access Control Solution with Anti-pass features, reports, etc The system could be a 5 to 10 lane system depending on the throughput and peak hour requirements. The maximum capacity for 1-1 matching for this system is about 5000 users which is sufficient for most dormitories. Workers will flash their Card and enroll their faces at the turnstile itself. The biometric data is then downloaded and collected on a central biometric database repository. The extracted biometric templates is also synchronized with the rest of the turnstiles after enrollment. During verification, the worker just needs to walk up to the turnstile, position his face properly and he will be verified almost instant. Facial biometrics is used here as most workers have very dry or bad fingerprints. Sometimes, when back from work, their fingers could be badly smudged with dirt, grease. As such, facial biometrics has worked for them well. c) Target Applications and Marketa) Worker Dormitories b) Factory Dormitories c) Boarding School Living quarters |
